Overview

Ages 7 to 10 are when true athletic ability is built. Future Champions is an athletics foundation program: across the year children rotate through the core event groups of track and field — sprints, jumps, throws and endurance — so they develop broad movement skills, coordination and confidence before specialising in any one event. Every child trains four times a week in small batches with structured, age-appropriate coaching.

This is also where measurable progress begins. Future Champions introduces the VHR Performance Index — our proprietary monthly assessment scoring physical fitness, skill, mental focus and discipline. You get a progress update every month, an in-person progress review every quarter, and a full PDF report every six months — so you always know exactly how your child is developing.

The foundation years, done right.

The rotation runs quarterly. One term is built around sprinting and relays, the next around jumping — long jump and high jump — the next around throwing, and the last around endurance, hurdles and combined events. The coaching is athletics throughout: the same coaches, the same track and the same progression, with the emphasis moving as the year turns.

Rotating within athletics rather than across different sports means every term keeps building the same foundation. A child who has sprinted, jumped and thrown has the speed, power and coordination that any event is later built on — and arrives at eleven ready to choose an event rather than start again.

Questions

Good to know.

Future Champions is athletics only. Across the year children rotate through the core event groups of track and field: sprinting and relays, jumping (long jump and high jump), throwing (shot put and vortex), and endurance, hurdles and combined events. Rotating within athletics keeps every term building the same foundation, while giving your child room to discover which events they genuinely enjoy before specialising.

It's our proprietary monthly assessment that scores four areas — Physical (30%), Skill (30%), Mental (20%) and Discipline (20%). Every Future Champion is assessed once a month. You receive a progress update every month, sit down with the coach for an in-person review every quarter, and get a clear PDF report every six months — so you can track measurable progress rather than relying on guesswork.

At ages 7–10 we deliberately keep training broad across athletics — the research is clear that a wide movement base builds better long-term athletes and reduces burnout and injury. Your child will sprint, jump and throw before favouring any one of them. Once they move into Elite Junior Athletes (ages 11–14), we support focused event specialisation with individual development plans.
